Nvidia's new graphics card, the RTX 3080 Ti, is launching tomorrow starting at $1,199. Like previous launches in the RTX 30-series, it won't be easy to buy. Fortunately, Best Buy will at least try to make it easier for its customer to buy the upcoming card and confirmed that select locations will sell the RTX 3080 Ti Founder's Edition tomorrow.
Best Buy did not mention if it would sell the RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards from other manufacturers like EVGA and Gigabyte, but it is likely that those specific iterations of the RTX 3080 Ti are being reserved for online-only sales. However, keep in mind that due to several contributing factors, including an unprecedented demand, non-Founder's Edition iterations will likely be higher than the $1,199 MSRP.
81 Best Buy locations across 40 US states will carry "limited quantities" of the RTX 3080 Ti, according to the retailer, and each store will be enforcing a one per customer limit to ensure as many people possible can secure one.
This is a change of pace for Best Buy, who up until this point limited the sale of the RTX 30-series, including the Founder's Edition, to online-only purchases. But it is certainly not the first retailer to sell Nvidia's desirable graphics cards in-stores. Retailers like Micro Center have previously sold limited supply in-stores for previous RTX 30-series launches.
Best Buy selling the RTX 3080 Ti Founder's Edition in-stores is noteworthy for the retailer, who previously sold the RTX 30-series and the AMD RX 6000-series online only. The retailer also announced in November 2020 that it would not be selling PS5 or Xbox Series X/S consoles in stores until an undisclosed time in 2021.
