The "console wars" between the Xbox Series X and the PS5 have some people taking sides much as they did in the previous generations. However, Microsoft recently sent a message to those who feel the need to claim one is better than the other.
On any given day, social media can be littered with people who tend to reply "Xbox Series X is better" or "PS5 is better." These responses tend to be posted on announcements about games or the consoles that they don't favor. Microsoft tried to settle the debate once and for all with a recent Twitter post that stood out to some because of its honesty.
On the social media post, Microsft started the tweet by making sure everyone knew it was aimed at people in the account's replies that always posted "the PS5 is better." The official Xbox account then went on to state that the best console is the one gamers prefer playing. It finished the feel-good tweet by encouraging users to enjoy whatever one they felt was better.
To the people in our replies saying ‘PS5 is better’:
The best console is the one you enjoy playing. Have fun!

Several of Xbox's followers on Twitter commented about how they liked the apparent unifying message, with one game industry insider known as Shinobi posting an arm-wrestling picture meant to show the Xbox and PlayStation had actually joined hands. The Xbox account then went on to explain that there wasn't really a need to pick one side or the other because people who love video games are actually part of "one big family." The account also made sure to go out of its way to credit that idea to Dominic Toretto of Fast & Furious fame.
The question as to which console is better can really only be answered by a particular user based on what they are looking for in the device. There are some games that run better on the PlayStation 5 and some that appear to be better suited for the Xbox Series X.
The popularity of the two consoles tends to ebb and flow as well. While Sony's grip on the console market share has been quite a bit stronger than Microsoft's over the years. However, some recent studies showed that at least in the United States, the Xbox was actually more popular than the PlayStation. However, in Asian markets, there is no debate about which device sells better. That appears to indicate that Microsoft's messages about the preferred console really does come down to what individual people prefer to use more.
