iPhone 13 May Allow You To Make Calls Even Without Network? - iPhone 13 - Gulte

September is approaching and the tech world is excited about the Apple event where it will be launching its new iPhone. Already many reports have surfaced on the internet and media regarding the design and features to be included in the new generation of iPhones, likely to be called iPhone 13.

According to Ming Chi Kuo who is the most accurate Apple Analyst, iPhone 13 would support Satellite Communication. This means the users of iPhone 13 can make calls even without a cell phone network.

However, Kuo added that Apple is optimistic about using satellite communications technology in a smartphone which is a first in its segment. To enhance this, Apple has deployed a research team to study in detail about this feature which could probably revolutionise the entire smartphone and tech industry.

But How Does This Work?

To make a call without cellular coverage, the iPhone is likely to have Low-earth-orbit satellite feature. LEO Satellites rely on satellites that are in a lower orbit and Apple may use Qualcomm’s customised X60 baseband chip to embrace this feature. To provide LEO connectivity, the telecom operators need to work with satellite services companies and if these merits are met, iPhone 13 will be another benchmark in the smartphone platform.

Overall, Apple is setting the standards quite high for its next generation of iPhone. If this satellite communication feature works out, other tech giants may also adopt it.

Yet having satellite communication in a smartphone could be a huge gamble. Generally the defence and navy of respective countries use satellite communications for many reasons. But Apple needs to extensively modify this feature so that it doesn’t become a security threat.
